Food transportation

Food transportation has its own regulations that require the application of Good Practices and preventive safety measures. These regulations vary depending on the state, and sometimes companies encounter problems with delivery due to rigorous analyses of the contents that exceed those carried out at the point of origin, resulting in rejection of the goods.

For this reason, PUROH analyzed how to increase standards to achieve complete microbiological safety. The result was a revolutionary new industrial purification technology that cleans the environment of microorganisms and volatile organic compounds that may have been introduced into various handling processes due to manufacturing activity, contamination, or accidents.

PUROH’s technology is different from current disinfection methods. Unlike passive methods of ventilation and filtration, PUROH is an active technology that can act continuously and is completely harmless to humans. Therefore, it leaves no toxic residues like chemical disinfection processes and can act on both surfaces and air.

PUROH’s technology is based on the well-known principle of the Open-Air Factor, which occurs in the upper layers of the atmosphere and is called a natural detergent. PUROH replicates this reaction in a device that lightly ozonates a hydrogen peroxide cartridge and causes a chain reaction of neutral hydroxyl radicals OH·. This chain reaction spreads throughout the environment in different ways depending on air currents and humidity and temperature conditions. The radicals attack the membrane of pathogenic microorganisms by denaturing their membrane and causing their elimination. Its effectiveness has been demonstrated and published in major strains of pathogenic microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, and fungi, by internationally recognized centers and laboratories.

PUROH has developed a module that only requires a 12V power supply to function, and can be adapted to closed loading areas of trucks. This reaction acts at room temperature and even better in a refrigerated cabin. It is worth noting that the temperature in the upper layers of the atmosphere where this process occurs is -50ºC.

In the case of transporting fruit or vegetables before their optimal ripening point, PUROH can contribute to achieving it by adding a taste and nutritional value that is better than traditional methods. PUROH inhibits the ethylene responsible for ripening and generates oxidative stress on the fruit or vegetables, resulting in an increase in sugar and antioxidants, thus improving their organoleptic and nutritional values, similar to natural ripening on the plant.

Another important advantage for the health of land transportation drivers is that a small portable device connected to the 12V outlet in the cabin guarantees the elimination of all inhalable particles and other toxic volatile organic compounds by mineralizing them into harmless substances such as oxygen, water, or soluble carbonates. It is the appropriate risk prevention measure for transportation professionals who inhale toxins from fuels that are not filtered by conventional methods in transportation.
