The AQI represents the number of suspended particles at ground level and records the presence of ozone, ash, pollen, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, and nitrogen dioxide. The scale ranges from 50 to 500 and is divided into 6 colors:
- Green: between 0 and 50. Good air quality. Air pollution presents little risk.
- Yellow: between 51 and 100. Moderate air quality. Air quality is acceptable.
- Orange: between 101 and 150. Unhealthy air quality for sensitive groups. People with allergies, asthma, or lung diseases may experience health effects.
- Red: between 151 and 200. Unhealthy air quality. Severe health effects on sensitive groups and mild effects on the general public.
- Purple: between 201 and 300. Very unhealthy air quality. High-risk health alerts.
- Maroon: between 301 and 500. Dangerous air quality. Emergency health conditions.
